Robert Lederman's CV

Robert Lederman BSc (Hons) MCOptom FOVDRA

Robert Lederman is in private practice in Jerusalem, Israel. He graduated with Honours from The City University (London) department of Optometry and Visual Science (1987). In 1989 he was elected as a member of The College of Optometrists (UK). In 2001 he became Israel’s first optometrist to be awarded Fellowship from the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA).

Lederman is an acknowledged leader in his field, with patients traveling to Jerusalem from around the world to consult with him about their vision. Together with his team of Optometric Vision Therapists, he has successfully treated thousands of people who have not found solutions to their visual challenges elsewhere.  His patient population includes children and adults with learning difficulties, people who have suffered a stroke or head-injury, those with AD(H)D, people on the Autistic spectrum and those with Down syndrome. Robert Lederman has spent much of his professional career clarifying how the visual demands of reading vary from language to language. He has given over 400 presentations about vision over the last 35 years both in Israel and internationally to varied audiences including teachers, neurologists, ophthalmologists, occupational therapists and psychologists. He has assessed the visual status of over 17500 people.

Robert is a visiting lecturer on the master’s degree program at the Safra Brain Research Center for the Study of Learning Disabilities, University of Haifa and has lectured in the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology at the Technion, Haifa. In 2020, in recognition of his remarkable efforts in educating the public and professionals about neuro-developmental optometry, Robert was awarded the OVDRA “Making Vision Therapy Visible” award.
